Disney’s Fort Wilderness

October 6, 2016

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground evokes the timeless beauty of the American frontier, with deer, rabbits, ducks and armadillos roaming the Resort’s 750 acres of pine and cypress forest. This campground offers so much! Whether you want to fish, bike, or hike; lounge at one of the pools all day, rent a boat or go horseback riding, its all here plus more. There are activities going on throughout the day so its easy to get involved. There are plenty of buses to shuttle from place to place if you don’t bring along bikes or a golf cart.

First Impressions:

  • Tons of shade throughout campground
  • Huge pool and field for activities
  • Lots of trails
  • Very safe environment

Settled In:

  • All the sites are very level, with water, power, table and cable
  • Bath houses are very nice and clean
  • Laundry facilities at each bath house
  • Pool is great
  • Smore’s and a movie are a must (different movie every night)

Lasting Impressions:

  • Love this place, very clean and safe feeling
  • Lots of activities to do everyday, throughout the day
  • Buses are a great way to get around the campgrounds
  • Restaurants, shopping and entertainment all on campgrounds

Site 1502 is a great site. It is Right across the street from the pool area and nearby to a bathhouse. The lot is a little tight to back into at least for a newbie like myself. The site was very level and shady.

Camping here around a holiday like Thanksgiving or Christmas will afford you the opportunity to see some of the insane decorations folks exhibit. Some are quite impressive and elaborate.

We have made a tradition of either taking the monorail for a loop to view the parks and hotels (usually getting a dessert or lunch at The Contemporary Hotel) or stopping by Downtown Disney on our last day.

6 out of 8 thumbs up
